LS16ARE series mahogany model with carefully selected Ingleman spruce solid for the front board and high-quality mahogany solid for the side and back boards. It delivers a clear and warm sound.

A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement)
A.R.E. [Acoustic Resonance Enhancement] is a wood modification technology originally researched and developed by Yamaha. By applying this technology to the body material of a guitar, a rich sound is achieved, as if the guitar has been played for many years. By precisely controlling temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure without using any chemicals, the same changes that occur over a long period of time after lumbering are produced in a short period of time, thereby improving sound transmission and vibration efficiency, and accelerating the extension of mid and bass notes and the rise and fall of treble notes. This results in a warm, mature sound with good balance and fewer annoying overtones.

Newly designed “non-scalloped X-bracing” structure
The non-scalloped X-bracing structure used in the L Series has been further improved using the latest analysis and modeling technology and expert craftsmanship. The natural sound of the wood is maximized to achieve a deeper, richer mid-bass sound.

Neck shape for high playability
The pitch and height between strings, fingerboard binding, neck taper, and other details have been improved. A new neck shape was created to better fit the guitarist. The new neck design delivers a stable grip and smooth playability from high to low positions.
All models feature a double action truss rod that provides force in both forward and reverse bending directions. This allows for more precise neck adjustment.

5-layered neck
5-layer mahogany and rosewood neck construction prevents warping and twisting and maintains stable neck condition.

LS Body
The small-body LS series is the result of Yamaha Guitars’ long history. The excellent tonal balance delivers a big, clear sound that matches the size of the body. Its subtle sound is recommended for fingerstyle guitarists.

Equipped with passive-type pickups
The L16 Series is equipped with newly developed passive-type pickups. A piezo element is installed for each string under the saddle. This passive type pickup does not require a power source in the guitar body and does not require a preamplifier or battery box to be attached to the guitar body, thus faithfully reproducing the dynamic sound of the L series while maintaining the appearance of an acoustic guitar. The pickups have minimal impact on the live sound, yet still have a distinctive presence when played in a band.
